A three-bedroom apartment covering nearly the entire 15th floor at the Rosario Candela-designed 778 Park Avenue has been listed for $29 million, the New York Times reported.

The 10-room, 4,500-square-foot suite featuring French moldings, 11-foot ceilings and three terraces was the home of the late ABC pioneer Roone Arledge, who launched “Monday Night Football” and “Nightline.”

Arledge hired interior designer David Easton, whose neo-Classical decor graces the apartment’s Park Avenue-facing principal rooms. Of the four exposures, the westerly one offers glimpses of Central Park.

A private elevator opens onto a 30-foot-long gallery, which boasts an original wood herringbone-and-marquetry floor and mahogany doors.

A 28-by-21-foot living room features floor-to-ceiling windows opening onto Juliet balconies and a marble fireplace. Another marble fireplace is in the adjacent Art Deco-style library.

The Sotheby’s International Realty team of Serena Boardman and Meredyth Hull Smith are brokering the sale at 778 Park Avenue, which must be an all-cash transaction approved by a famously selective co-op board.

The Sotheby’s pair sold a penthouse at 730 Park Avenue last year for $39 million and a penthouse at 2 East 70th Street for $44 million.

Meanwhile at 778 Park Avenue, another large apartment recently hit the market for the first time in 70 years with an asking price of $22.5 million. [NYT] TRD
