Related wants stores, restaurants for base of tower near Hudson Yards

The retail component of the Related Companies’ rental tower at 500 West 30th Street, designed by Robert A.M. Stern, has hit the market, The Real Deal has learned.

The 390-unit development, under construction at 10th Avenue, boasts 7,293 square feet of retail space and should be complete in 2014.

Winick Realty is seeking retail tenants to occupy the glassy frontage the building offers, including at least one restaurant space that has an outdoor area right next to the High Line.

The tower should profit handsomely from Related’s nearby megaproject the Hudson Yards, a commercial project set to add more office space to Midtown than exists in all of Portland, Ore., as well as apartments, cultural space and a hotel.

Winick President Steven Baker and colleague Sam Mann have the listings. The pair would not comment on asking rents; Related did not return calls for this story.

The four availabilities at 500 West 30th include a 3,595-square-foot store with 120 feet of wraparound frontage, which is seeking a restaurant. Also available for a restaurant is a 1,300-square-foot build-to-suit space directly adjacent to the High Line, with a potential for a rooftop space overlooking the tourist mecca. Lastly, both a 1,766-square-foot and a 1,012-square-foot spot, ideal for stores, are being marketed.
