The city is attempting to streamline the notably onerous process of applying for affordable housing in New York City, with a new website and online application system called NYC Housing Connect.

Through the site, applicants can enter the lottery system for affordable housing and will receive online status updates, the New York Daily News reported. Previously, applicants had to enter each lottery individually. The new system should allow prospective renters to manage their applications for different buildings in one place.

The site has begun accepting applications for five projects, including 525 West 28th Street and Related’s 500 West 30th Street in Manhattan. The other projects are in the Bronx and Queens.
