Court orders O.J. Simpson’s Florida home seized

From the South Florida site: A judge in Miami-Dade County, Fla., ordered Chase Bank to seize the hacienda-style home of incarcerated Hall of Famer O.J. Simpson more than two years after a foreclosure action was filed.

Simpson, who is serving time in a Nevada prison after being convicted of robbery and kidnapping in 2008, stopped paying the mortgage on the home at 9450 Southwest 112th Street in Kendall in 2010.

The bank plans to sell the house in an auction set for Oct. 29, Gossip Extra reported, citing court papers.

Simpson bought the property for $575,000 in 2000, three years after being held liable in the deaths of his ex-wife, Nicole Simpson Brown, and a friend, in order to take advantage of Florida’s real estate laws, which prevent the seizure of a homestead to pay off civil judgments.

Simpson now owes the bank nearly $900,000, including a $660,000 principal, interest and court fees, according to the website. [Gossip Extra] — Emily Schmall
