Gracie Mansion is undergoing some sprucing up before the next mayor arrives.

Though Mayor Michael Bloomberg never lived in the official residence, he has been known to order touch-ups ranging from repainting to installing an 1820s chandelier. But this go round, most of the work is external: repainting the base of a chimney and shutters, repairing a damaged fence, and updating security lighting.

The work, City Hall told the New York Times, is routine summer maintenance.

“It’s 200 years old and now sees a couple hundred thousand visitors a year, so it requires a lot of regular maintenance like this,” Marc LaVorgna, a spokesman for Bloomberg, told the Times.
