The owner of the mansion at 247 Central Park West has slashed the asking price to $34 million. The property, listed by the Vannessa Kaufman team and Stan Ponte at Sotheby’s International Realty, hit the market in May with a $37 million price tag, or about 65 percent more than the purchase price in 2011.

The owner, identified in public records only as an LLC, purchased the house for almost $22.4 million in January 2012 from Keith Monda, the former co-president and CEO of luxury retailer Coach. At the time, listing broker Matthew Lesser of Leslie J. Garfield & Co. told The Real Deal that the buyer lived abroad.

Monda purchased the property from Abigail Disney, the grandniece of the animation iconoclast, in 2006 for $15.5 million, then put the mansion back on the market in 2010 asking $32 million. He finally sold the spot a year later for $22.37 million.

The home, built in 1887 by William Noble as one of a row of nine spec houses, spans 12,000 square feet and includes a domed skylight, elevator, 60-foot fresh water pool and home gym. [Curbed]Julie Strickland
