Madison Avenue, the domain of Mad Men, pricey boutiques and Uptown elegance, is now a respite for a custom shirt boutique priced out of the tenement district-turned-hipster-haven Lower East Side.
The cheaper space will reduce the immense pressure of making rent every month, owner Hillary Flowers told DNAinfo, which did not include information on how much she paid at either space.
“It is going to take away so much anxiety and it gives you a chance to live,” she told DNAinfo. “I love the business — the design aspect and working with my customers.”
With the rent pressure lifted, Flowers hopes to expand the brand, which currently focuses only on shirts for men, to include custom suits, ties and pocket squares. Custom clothing for women is also in the works. [DNAinfo] — Julie Strickland
