Restaurateur Jeffrey Chodorow, whose ventures include Asia de Cuba, has sold his Trump Tower pad for $16.5 million, matching the most ever paid for a condo in the Fifth Avenue building, The Real Deal has learned.

Chodorow closed on the sale yesterday, said Oren Alexander of Douglas Elliman’s Alexander Team, who listed the 3,700-square-foot unit along with his brother, Tal Alexander. The buyer is listed as a limited liability corporation named Seapack.

The sales price matches the amount paid for an apartment owned by Andrew Lloyd Webber in 2010; the composer’s condo, though, sold for less per square foot, according to data from StreetEasy, the real estate listings website. Chodorow’s unit brought $4,459, compared with $3,288 for Webber’s.

In the past 12 months, the average per square foot price paid in the building has been $2,833, based on eight transactions, according to data website CityRealty.

Chodorow bought the 38th-floor property as three units in 2004 and renovated them, turning 10 rooms into just seven. The apartment is configured as a three bedroom, 4.5-bathroom home with a chef’s kitchen and views of Central Park. Chodorow was not immediately available for comment.

Elliman picked up the listing from Trump International Realty’s Rana Williams, who moved to Keller Williams NYC last year, Streeteasy.com shows. The apartment had been on and off the market since 2011 and had undergone several hikes and dips in asking price. At the top end, it asked $18.8 million.

Trump Tower “is one of the most iconic condos in the world,” Alexander told TRD, noting that deals in the building are normally done by brokers who have been active for decades and who specialize in the Upper East Side market.

Condos are located on the top 38 floors of the 58-story tower, according to CityRealty, and residents have access to a fitness room and maid’s service.
