New York-based party promoter Ibiza United is bringing the New York outpost of Sankeys night club to the former home of club District 36 at 29 West 36th Street in the Garment District.

The 14,800 square foot space, Owned By Broadway 36th Realty LLC according to city records, has a capacity to hold 600 to 800 patrons. The club originally planned to set up shop in Hell’s Kitchen Around West 50th Street, but announced a change of plans and new focus on the Garment District in March.

The venue is the former home of club District 36, which gained notoriety when patron Michael Lin was found dead outside the club in 2012.

Sankeys is to go before the board’s Public Safety and Quality of Life Committee Wednesday. Pending that green light, the club’s owners will reportedly seek approval for a cabaret liquor license from Community Board 5 and the State Liquor Authority that will allow the venue to operate until 4 a.m.

The club, which opened its original branch in Manchester, England, announced the closure of that location earlier this year. [NYO] and [DNAinfo]Julie Strickland
