Parts not so unknown: Bourdain makes UES buy

He’s long traveled the world for his engaging shows on foreign cuisine, culture and history — but celebrity chef, author and television host Anthony Bourdain will still call New York City home. The silver fox and his Italian-born mixed martial arts-fighter wife, Ottavia, bought a place at Carnegie Hill Tower at 40 East 94th Street for $3.35 million, according to city records filed yesterday.

The condo is a 2,250-square-foot combination unit with four bedrooms and three marble bathrooms, according to the listing. There is the potential for the Bourdains to create additional bedroom space by converting the upper portion of the two-level living room back to its original bedroom condition. The building is located near Madison Avenue.

Marcy Stein of Douglas Elliman, who declined to comment, had the listing.

The apartment hit the market this past June for $3.595 million, according to StreetEasy. Just over two weeks later, the price slipped 6 percent to $3.395 million. The sale entered contract on Oct. 23 and transferred on Jan. 22, according to the deed.

Deborah Sheen Simon is listed as the seller. Additional details about her were not immediately available.

Bourdain, who could not be reached, plans on opening a large food market here in New York, with vendors serving international street food. No word yet on its location, though reports speculate it could open in 3 World Trade Center or in Hudson Yards. — Zachary Kussin
