The infamous New York architect Robert Scarano, once banned from building in NYC after making false statements to the city to dodge zoning laws, is back and now he is building green.
Scarano’s latest project is set to open this April in Brighton Beach with the name Bright ‘n Green, according to Curbed. The six-unit condo building is absolutely covered in solar panels and it is possible that this could be the first multifamily development in the country to score a Living Building certification, which has the toughest standards for green structures.
Pricing will range from $325,000 for the smallest studio to $850,000 for the largest two-bedroom. Not bad, considering that 133 solar panels, rooftop turbines, sophisticated rainwater collection and filtration systems, and electromagnetic cooktops should basically eliminate the utility bill.
