Howard Glaser, director of state operations and senior policy adviser to Governor Andrew Cuomo, has decided to resign — and is considering a senior-level job in real estate.

The high-ranking governor’s aide said he will exit after the legislative session concludes at the end of June, sources told Crain’s. Glaser spearheaded the deal to redevelop the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, which was destroyed on 9/11. Before the start of Cuomo’s term in 2011, Glaser served as general counsel for the U.S. Mortgage Bankers Association and as counselor to the secretary at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

“It would make sense that he comes to the real estate industry, since he has a really good head for business and he understands people and government,” Newmark Grubb Knight Frank CEO Barry Gosin told Crain’s.

After Mayor Bill de Blasio was elected, he was said to be considering Glaser as deputy mayor for operations. [Crain’s]Mark Maurer
