Heading to the Swiss Alps this summer? Then you might want to consider ditching the traditional chalet for a dome home.

Built in the style of Buckminster Fuller, the architect who popularized the dome building in the 1940s, the stove heated getaways offer a unique way to enjoy the Swiss Alps. Known as the Whitepod Summer Escape, the development’s 15 domes feature eye-watering views, and a few even come with a second floor, according to Curbed.

And it’s not just the Swiss that are going crazy for dome dwellings. Recently the architecture community has been fixated on contemporary prefab options that are also eco friendly.

In fact, according to Curbed, one essayist recently declared the dome part of architecture’s “decent stab at sexual utopia.” [Curbed]Christopher Cameron
