“Everyone’s very selfie crazy right now,” Alex Esposito, 27, an East Hampton native and Free Ride co-founder, told the New York Post. “We had a ton of people getting into cars and taking pictures of themselves with cellphones. We thought it might be fun to build [the machines].”

Esposito told the Post that the backseat mounted iPads intended specifically to facilitate selfies were tested in Palm Beach, Fla., before coming to the Hamptons.

“There’s a quick spot check,” he said. “We try to make sure there’s nobody flashing the cameras.” [NYP] Christopher Cameron
