Silverstone Development Group acquired the post office’s building at 524 Myrtle Avenue in 2012 and opted not to renew its lease. Mail sorting for delivery will not occur at the new 4,150-square-foot space at 609 Myrtle Avenue. The U.S. Postal Service is still looking for a new spot to do that. It is unknown when the post office will open in Bed-Stuy, DNAinfo reported.

“The Congressman feels that the Post Office made the best of a tough decision,” a spokesperson for Congressman Hakeem Jeffries told DNAinfo. “We will work closely with [the USPS] to make sure residents get the level of mail delivery services our community deserves.” [DNAinfo]Mark Maurer
