Yorkshire Tower residents claim they’re being pushed out

Building to be sold to Stellar management and the Chetrit Group

Some residents at Yorkshire Towers are saying their landlord is forcing them out of the building with exorbitant rent increases ahead of a planned sale.

The property — a 707-unit apartment building at 305-315 East 86th Street — is in the process of being sold to Laurence Gluck’s Stellar Management and the Chetrit Group.

Residents claim that current owner Schneider & Schneider are forcing out the current tenants in anticipation of the sale. Some said their rent increases were more than 35 percent.

The 703,000-square-foot Yorkshire Towers is divided between rent-stabilized and market-rate apartments. [DNAinfo] — Claire Moses

it was known for many years that this was a great building with low rents. with 2nd avenue subway wrapping up, it should make for excellent repositioning for a condominium conversion
