Flatbush’s Loew’s Kings Theater excited both architecture and movie fans last year when it announced that the gorgeous 1920s movie palace would reopen. Now the theater has revealed that it will be open by January 2015.

The Kings, located at 1027 Flatbush Avenue near Beverly Road in Flatbush closed back in 1977. And in 2010, the city tapped ACE Theatrical Group to spearhead the $70 million restoration.

The new Loew’s Kings Theater will serve as both “a cultural and economic cornerstone for the Brooklyn community” and will have over 200 performances ever year, “including music, dance, theatre, and comedy,” according to a statement released by the theater.

And at 3,000 seats, it will be Brooklyn’s largest theater. [Curbed] Christopher Cameron
