Two 30,000-square-foot spaces mark Manhattan debut for Home Depot rival

UPDATED, 10:00 p.m., October 30: North Carolina-based home-improvement retail chain Lowe’s signed leases for two 30,000-square-foot stores in Manhattan.

The stores will be at 2008 Broadway, between West 68th and 69th streets, and 635 Sixth Avenue near 11th Avenue. Both spaces are slated to open in the second half of next year. About 125 jobs could be created, Crain’s reported.

Lowe’s has no other outposts in Manhattan, but its rival, Home Depot, has two large ones. There is a 108,000-square-foot flagship at 40 West 23rd Street in Chelsea and an 83,000-square-foot store at 980 Third Avenue on the Upper East Side. [Crain’s]Mark Maurer
