A Central Park West co-op has hit the market for $42 million. The owners bought the apartment for just $12.2 million in 2003.

The 7,000-square-foot co-op is located on the ninth floor of 101 Central Park West, an 18-story prewar building, according to the Wall Street Journal. Randall Gianopulos and Serena Boardman of Sotheby’s International Realty have the listing and would not identify the owners, who do not appear in public records.

Gianopulos did tell the Journal that the owners are an American couple who completed a three-year renovation of the space about eight years ago. They are moving downtown.

The unit features five bedrooms, not including a maid’s room, five bathrooms and two powder rooms. [WSJ]Christopher Cameron
