Robert Durst, real estate scion and alleged murderer, has been linked to the 1971 disappearance of a female Middlebury College student.

At the time, Lynne Schulze was an 18-year-old freshman at the college, according to the Burlington Free Press. On Dec. 10, 1971, Shulze was reportedly seen eating dried fruit from the All Good Things health food store — which Durst ran in the early 1970s — at 12:30 p.m. before her disappearance around 2:15 p.m. that same day.

The Schulze case was re-opened in 1992, according to the newspaper.

“We are aware of the connection between Robert Durst and the disappearance of Lynne Schulze,” Middlebury Police Chief Tom Hanley said in a statement cited by the newspaper. “We have been aware of this connection for several years and have been working with various outside agencies as we follow this lead.”

Durst, 71, was recently arrested in a hotel room in New Orleans for the alleged murder of his close friend Susan Berman in 2000. The murdercase was re-opened after new evidence was revealed during HBO’s documentary series “The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst.” Since then he has been held without bail in a psychiatric ward at the Elayn Hunt Correctional Center outside of New Orleans.
