News Corp. and 21st Century Fox chairman Rupert Murdoch is asking $72 million for his penthouse in Related Companies and HFZ Capital Group’s One Madison, just over a year after purchasing the unit and another one in the building for $57.3 million.
Murdoch listed the triplex penthouse as raw space — it is currently under construction. Last year, he purchased it along with a three-bedroom, one-story apartment on the floor beneath. He will be keeping the smaller unit, but living in a Downtown townhouse, the Wall Street Journal reported.
The triplex is roughly 6,850 square feet and stretches across floors 58 through 60. It features a wraparound terrace and views of the Empire State Building, World Trade Center, and Hudson and East Rivers.
Murdoch hired architect Jose Ramirez to build out the in-progress penthouse space.
News Corp. and 21st Century Fox are considering co-developing 2 World Trade Center with Silverstein Properties and moving their headquarters to the new building. [WSJ] — Tess Hofmann
