The current construction boom is making life hell for thousands of city dwellers. The round-the-clock construction noise has led to record noise complaints. Call NYC a victim of its own success.

Noise complaints topped 53,600 over the past fiscal year, and 62 percent, or 33,533, of the complaints were tied to off-hours construction, according to the New York Post.

Noise complaints to the Department of Environmental Protection increased 18 percent since fiscal 2014 and are up 50 percent since fiscal 2013.

“When it’s bad, I have to keep the windows closed, which sucks on hot days,” Andrew Moreno, a fashion photographer living across from the Hudson Yards construction site near Midtown, told the Post. [NYP]Christopher Cameron
