A new wave of high-end rentals — once decried as “Yuppie Boxes” by a displeased local – are about to open soon in Bed-Stuy.

The 70 apartments at 785 Dekalb Avenue are getting ready to hit the market, according to Curbed. When completed, the building will have 52,000 square feet of residential space and will include parking spaces for 35 cars, as well as bike storage and a roof deck.

When renderings of the project first appeared, many said it had the potential to be “Brooklyn’s ugliest building,” according to Curbed. One displeased Bed-Stuy resident grabbed attention by scrawling “Yuppie Boxes” across a rendering at the site. However, new renderings show a much tamer design.
