A Tribeca condo board says Edward J. Minskoff Equities can’t see the forest from the trees at 101 Warren Street in Tribeca, mostly because shoddy construction has killed the many of the 101 Austrian pines on the “atrium” rooftop.
Minskoff Equities, the building sponsor, is being sued by the condo board for allowing Whole Foods to install exhaust fans that allegedly decimated the private forest on the fifth floor of 101 Warren Street.
The board also claims in its $1 million lawsuit that sewage overflows are common at the 35-story building, which features 227 condos above a retail complex that includes Whole Foods, Bed Bath & Beyond and Barnes & Noble, the New York Post reported.
General contractor HRH Construction sued Minskoff in 2009, claiming the development firm failed to pay $26.9 million for work performed, and then cut them from the project.
The property at 101 Warren Street completely sold out in 2010 after four years on the market, bringing in over $650 million in sales. Condos routinely sell for seven digits at the Tribeca building. [NYP] — James Kleimann
