Modern art gallery Hauser & Wirth has a creative vision for a West Chelsea space with a bookstore, library and office space.

The international gallery filed plans to build a roughly 32,00-square-foot building at 542 West 22nd Street in the heart of the gallery district between 10th and 11th avenues, according to a permit application filed Tuesday with the city’s Department of Buildings.

Annabelle Seldorf will design the space for the gallery, which is currently housed nearby at 511 West 18th Street in a space that has exhibited artists such as Mark Bradford and Pierre Huyghe.

Landlord Steven Helf of Helzen Associates has owned the 22nd Street property since 1992, records show.

The new building will be five stories tall and will include gallery spaces on the first and fifth floors.

Hauser & Wirth’s move bucks the trend of galleries relocating from West Chelsea’s rents in favor of neighborhoods like the Lower East Side.

Correction: A previous version of this post incorrectly stated the address of Hauser & Wirth’s new gallery space. It will be at 542 West West 22nd Street, not No. 545.
