Montauk’s Surf Lodge lands on the wrong side of zoning again

But this time it’s not live music – it’s yoga

We’re used to hearing about legal battles over Montauk’s party scene. But it isn’t DJs who are causing ire among locals this time – it’s yoga junkies.

Surf Lodge – which once again features live music – has been offering a free workout series. The classes were run by Madonna’s former trainer Nicole Winhoffer and Barry’s Bootcamp’s Noah Neiman. But the healthy fun is over, after the series was shut down to the public due to “zoning issues,” according to the New York Post

“It’s in a residential district and it’s a pre-existing hotel and restaurant use there,” Michael Sendlenski, East Hampton Town attorney, told the Post. “Adding a yoga studio is not permitted.”
