Legendary editors Tina Brown and Sir Harold Evans are downsizing — their real estate holdings, that is. The publishing powerhouse couple just paid $2,351,250 for a co-op apartment at 2 Beekman Place, which is significantly smaller than their former triplex at 447 East 57th Street.

Brown has served as editor of Vanity Fair and the New Yorker, founded the news site The Daily Beast and is the author of a much-acclaimed biography of Princess Diana. Sir Harold Evans is the former editor of The Sunday Times in England, founded the magazine Conde Nast Traveler and is now an editor-at-large at Reuters.

The apartment they bought is 2,200 square feet, has three bedrooms, three bathrooms and offers “side views” of the East River. The building was designed by Rosario Candela and residents are allowed to use the roof deck, which offers sweeping views of the river.

According to city records, the couple has not yet sold their significantly larger triplex apartment with a private garden in Sutton Place that they listed in May for $9.75 million. They paid $3.8 million almost 20 years ago for that apartment, and spent about $1 million improving it.
