A celebrity face-off about a nonexistent golf course? Only in the Hamptons, dear friend. Edward Norton wedged himself into the controversy over the Hills, a proposed 600-acre golf resort with 118 residences and a clubhouse in East Quogue. As a friend of the developer, Mike Meldman, the actor (and self-proclaimed environmentalist) is advising the potential development on how to avoid water pollution. But the duo will have to contend with Alec Baldwin, a proud East Ender who starred in a public-service announcement last year, calling the Hills “the biggest and baddest development on Long Island.” The final public hearing over the project will take place in June.
