Who needs a new library in the age of the Kindle? On Tuesday night taxpayers rejected a referendum that would finance the complete gutting and redevelopment of the Hampton Bays Public Library on Ponquogue Avenue. Redevelopment called for the installation of a new roof, insulation, and heating system, as well as a brand new floor plan for the 20,000-square-foot single-story space.  [27East]
