Montauk could soon have its own public bus system

Here’s your chance to cut down on that summer Uber bill. East Hampton town officials are hoping to roll out a fleet of buses this summer to loop around Montauk. This week the Town Board began discussion of the route, number of buses, and hours of operation. Stops would include the Long Island Rail Road station and the downtown Montauk area. Town officials are even considering an app, Town Supervisor Larry Cantwell told 27East. The operation would be partially subsidized by the town, and hopefully the state as well, Cantwell said, in addition to charging riders a “modest” fare. [27East]
