Historic East Hampton house built from a 17th-century ship has hit the market

In 1639, a small house was built from the wood of a ship in East Hampton. Still held together with its original wood pegs, that historic home has now hit the market asking $1.2 million.

The East Hampton Historical Society verified the house’s history and the numbered wood from the ship, according to 6sqft. The history of the ownership has also been traced back to the property’s first family. And soon, another chapter will be written.

The shingle-style house is 1,100 square feet and is decorated with red accents. The living room fireplace is surrounded by wood beam ceilings and, of course, the floors are hardwood.

And while the house is small, the property is rather substantial: it sits on 2.3 acres within a short stroll to Three Mile Harbor.
