“Feed the birds, tuppence a bag,” says Mary Poppins. “See you in court,” says a Manhattan landlord.

A tenant at 28 Bond Street in Noho who likes to feed pigeons from the window of her fourth-floor apartment is heading to court.

“They live in a world where every bite counts, so I try to help them in any way I can,” Margaret Lee, tells the New York Post. “I believe that pigeons get a really raw deal, so I decided I was going to stand up for them as best I could.”

But her landlord, Saada Roberts, says that she has created a mess of birdseed and poop on the sidewalk out side her building. Roberts recently filed a suit in Manhattan Supreme Court to force Lee to stop feeding the birds.

Roberts chief complaint is that the bird droppings keep shoppers away from her retail tenant, boutique fashion store OAK NYC. She claims birds have even started invading the store.

In response, a judge has already temporarily ordered Lee to stop feeding the birds.
