A four-alarm fire ripped through a Tribeca commercial building at the corner of Murray and Church streets yesterday evening. Twelve firefighters were taken to Bellevue Hospital with minor injuries.

The blaze erupted in the five-story building, which uses the addresses 27 Park Place, 111 Church Street and 24 Murray. A total of 50 units and 250 firefighters responded at the scene. The building was quickly evacuated.

At 7:45, an hour into the fire, windows on the fourth floor exploded, raining glass over the street, according to the New York Post.

The building’s owner is an eponymous LLC registered to 9210 4th Avenue in Brooklyn where George Butsikaris Realty operates. It is also unclear what businesses occupy the building, however, there were concerns reported about the possibility that there was ammunition being stored in the basement as part of a target range, according to NBC.
