In 1879, real estate developer Arthur Benson built seven homes in Montauk: one for himself and one for each of his six very lucky friends. Built by McKim, Mead & White, the houses are considered key examples of American shingle-style architecture, and the area is a historic district, Behind the Hedges reported. This 3,800-square-foot home on 2.3 acres at 153 Deforest Road, which contains four bedrooms and 2.5 baths, was remodeled and expanded in 1992. Rylan Jacka and Mark Webb with Sotheby’s International Realty have the listing for the home priced at $16.25 million. [Behind the Hedges]
