A campaign to raise funds to buy and rebuild the Sag Harbor Cinema is closing in on its goal. April Gornik, vice president of the Sag Harbor Partnership, said $6.25 million has been raised so far out of a hoped-for $8 million by a target date of December 16, the one-year anniversary of a fire that wrecked the cinema’s lobby and façade as well as nearby storefronts. Fundraising efforts have garnered support from celebrities such as Billy Joel and Martin Scorsese, the report said. The Partnership is having a fundraising event at 63 Main restaurant 6 to 10 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 27. [27east]
