A meticulously detailed Tudor-style penthouse that languished on the market for years has finally found a buyer, property records filed with the city Thursday show.

Former art dealer and Wall Street computer expert Janos Aranyi lived at the Gramercy apartment for 51 years before selling it last month for $4.4 million. When reached by phone, Aranyi said that he could not recall the name of the buyer, but only that it was a New Jersey-based real estate investor who already owns another unit in the same building at 44 Gramercy Park North.

“We moved to City Island,” Aranyi said. “Great food, very good restaurants.”

Aranyi, who is in his 80s, said he previously had a different buyer in waiting, a couple belonging to the Mailman family, of Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health fame, but who was ultimately rejected by the co-op board.

Aranyi listed the apartment for $7 million in 2014. He first came to live in the 1,900-square-foot home in the 1960s, when it was a rent-stabilized apartment, but bought it when his landlord died in 2013, Bloomberg reported.

Over the years, Aranyi hosted numerous star-studded parties at the home, which were attended by the likes of Al Pacino, Jeremy Irons, and George Soros, who hails from Aranyi’s native Hungary.
