NYU Langone Medical Center is adding 150,000 square feet to its building at Vornado Realty Trust’s 1 Park Avenue, bringing its total footprint to about 630,000 square feet.
The medical center has expanded multiple times before, according to Crain’s. In 2011, it doubled its space in the Park Avenue building to about 370,000 square feet and has grown by another 110,000 square feet since then.
Rents at the building were in the mid-$70s per square foot. Vornado was represented in-house, while NYU was represented by a Cushman & Wakefield team led by Bruce Mosler.
NYU Langone also recently said it would use all 200,000 square feet at 159 East 53rd Street for outpatient doctors’ offices and opened a 10-story, 365,000-square-foot science building earlier this year. Later in June, it will open a 21-story, 830,000-square-foot hospital building called the Kimmel Pavilion. [Crain’s] – Eddie Small
