The Southampton Village Planning Board allowed more public discussion on the proposed destruction of a retail courtyard that would make way for a pair of two-story buildings featuring three retail spaces, 27east reported. Board Chairman Alan McFarland said his colleagues and the public needed more time to review the lot line modification and site plan. McFarland also noted that the board may ultimately conclude that an environmental study of the plan is necessary, reversing an earlier decision. An attorney representing the developer, East End Holdings LLC, defended the company’s plan, touting the project’s advanced sanitary system as “first of its kind.” Public discussion will continue Sept. 4. [27east]
