JPMorgan Chase has hired the architect behind Apple’s headquarters to design its new Park Avenue tower.

Foster + Partners will be the head architect on the project, according to Bloomberg. The firm, founded by Pritzker Prize-winner Norman Foster, also designed 425 Park Avenue, which is under construction a few blocks away.

JPMorgan announced in February it would knock down its 270 Park Avenue headquarters and replace it with a 70-story skyscraper spanning 2.5 million square feet that could stand up to 500 feet taller than the old building.

The bank plans on beginning construction in 2019 after getting the necessary approvals. The Real Deal reported in April that AECOM Tishman would be building the tower for the bank. [Bloomberg] – Eddie Small
