UPDATED, Feb. 1, 2020, 1:15 p.m.: Two days after attempting suicide, a Connecticut developer charged with murdering his wife has died in a Bronx hospital, his lawyer said Thursday.

But in an odd twist, the attorney requested that the case against Fotis Dulos proceed.

Fotis Dulos’ suicide note, which was obtained by the New York Post.

“Mr. Dulos’ children should not be subjected to a lifetime coping with the fictional reality that their father murdered their mother in cold blood on the basis of baseless and rampant speculation,” lawyer Norm Pattis wrote in a motion filed Thursday, the Hartford Courant reported.

Dulos, of Farmington, was pronounced dead Thursday afternoon at Jacobi Medical Center, where he had been rushed by helicopter after being found in his garage with his Chevrolet Suburban running and a vacuum tube funneling its exhaust into the vehicle, according to the newspaper.

His wife, Jennifer Farber Dulos, vanished after dropping their kids off at school May 24. She has not been found. Her husband was arrested this month and charged with killing her. He was released but was facing revocation of his $6 million bond when he was found unresponsive in his SUV.

In a suicide note obtained by the New York Post, published on Friday, Fotis Dulos contended his innocence. “I refuse to spend even an hour more in jail for something I had NOTHING to do with,” he wrote. [Hartford Courant] — Erik Engquist
