More than 100 apartment units will be added to the city’s tight housing market by a Stagg Group project in the Bronx.

The firm, led by Mark Stagg, plans to construct a nearly 110,000-square-foot apartment building at 1073 Summit Avenue in the Highbridge section, according to an application filed with the city’s Department of Buildings this week.

The project will sit between West 165th and West 166th streets, near the Major Deegan Expressway. The 10-story building will have 105 units, community space and parking for 71 vehicles.

Stagg and Jay Martino, the firm’s senior vice president of construction, did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

The Stagg Group is known for building affordable apartment complexes throughout the Bronx and Westchester County.

According to a report from the Bronx borough president’s office last year, Community District 4, which includes the neighborhoods of Highbridge and Concourse, saw the most funding for developments in 2018. Investors that year poured about $565 million into the district.

Meanwhile, a project further north in the borough, at 2047 Ryer Avenue in Fordham, appears to have grown to 18 stories from 13, according to another Department of Buildings filing this week by UA Builders Group. The project will now offer 102 apartments instead of 91, records show.
