A California woman and her boyfriend got more than they bargained for when they bought a house to flip.

Tiffany Ma bought the “worst home on the block” unseen in an auction last October, the New York Post reported. Instead of finding a simple flip, however, Ma, who has been documenting the process on her Youtube channel, ended up with an abandoned hoarder home.

The couple found two safes on the property. One of them had been opened and ransacked by what appeared to be a burglar, but the other one, weighing more than 4,000 pounds, was still locked and in-tact.

The home was burglarized days before the couple got the keys by someone they surmised was looking for something specific. A man also approached Ma and her boyfriend shortly after claiming to be the nephew of the home’s original owner and asking for the contents of the locked safe.

Fearing another break-in could be imminent, the couple decided to find a way into the safe using a circular saw. Inside, Ma found an assortment of “alarming” items, including some that she didn’t reveal because she planned on turning them over to the “authorities.”

Some of the contents she did show her Youtube subscribers included rare coins, diamond jewelry and a knife with a German inscription and Nazi emblem. There was also old money, ammunition, “blackmail photos” of strippers and scrapbooks filled with human hair.

Aside from the safes, Ma and her boyfriend also had to clean up the incredible mess left behind. The home was covered in dust and dirt and filled with rat urine and dead animals. Ultimately the couple decided to demolish the home and build a new structure in its place.

In a recent video, Ma said after seven months of waiting, she finally secured building permits and could begin the process of rebuilding, which should take about two months to complete.
