City drops plan for $375M Bronx jail

The city has dropped a controversial $375 million plan to build a 2,040-bed jail at an industrial site in the South Bronx. The 27-acre Oak Point rail yard site has long been used as an illegal dump. The city still plans to reopen and expand the Brooklyn House of Detention on Atlantic Avenue.
