Red Hook residents wary of BJ’s

Developer Joe Sitt’s plan to possibly bring BJ’s Wholesale Club to the old Revere sugar factory in Red Hook, next to Ikea, gives residents mixed feelings. Some worry that BJ’s following Ikea to the waterfront would create a domino effect of big-box retailers in the area, causing major congestion. Some residents are excited about the job opportunities BJ’s would bring to the neighborhood, and aren’t too worried about the store causing traffic because Ikea didn’t cause the surge of congestion many people had anticipated.
