Rudin, Yaro to help find new MTA chair

Rudin Management’s Bill Rudin and Regional Plan Association’s Robert Yaro are among 20 appointees to Governor
Andrew Cuomo’s search committee for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s new chairman and CEO, according to a statement
released by the governor’s office today.

Current Chairman Jay Walder announced last month that he was resigning
to become CEO of the MTR corporation in Hong Kong. Rudin is president of Rudin Management and is also chair of the Association for a Better NY. Yaro is president of the Regional Plan Association, and also chairs
the Friends of Moynihan Station and is vice president of the Forum for
Urban Design.

Another member of the new committee is Robert Steel, the Deputy Mayor for Economic
Development and a former Goldman Sachs executive, who
manages development projects citywide and oversees agencies including the Department of Housing
Preservation and Development as well as the Department of City Planning. 

Other appointees include Stanley Brezenoff, president and CEO of Continuum
Health Partners, Sidney Holmes, a partner at Winston Strawn who has been involved with
municipal bond finances and former Deputy Mayor Richard Ravitch, who was chairman of the New York State Urban Development Corporation, rescuing the agency from near-bankruptcy.

The MTA is currently facing a significant budget gap and recently
reduced its planned spending for its capital plan in order to
manage its funds more effectively.  — Miranda Neubauer
