Former Bloomberg official cited for conflict of interest in work for real estate firm

Former city Department of Finance Commissioner Martha Stark was fined $22,000 by the city’s Conflicts of Interest Board for using city resources while working for a real estate company, the Tarragon Corporation, the New York Times reported. Stark used her city email address to send about 300 electronic notes related to Tarragon’s business over a four-year period, the Times said, and asked a former first deputy commissioner and an executive assistant to work on administrative tasks related to Tarragon during the same period.

Tarragon developed multi-family housing for sale and rent in Florida and several other states, but declared bankruptcy in 2009. Stark resigned that same year, amid a number of official inquiries, according to previous reports. [NYT]
