Marcia Gay Harden gets $2.8M for Harlem townhouse

Actress Marcia Gay Harden sold her Harlem townhouse for $2.75 million, more than twice what she and her soon-to-be-ex-husband paid for the home about a decade ago, according to city records filed today. The seven-bedroom home at 351 West 120th Street between Morningside and Manhattan avenues was listed with Cathy Taub, an executive vice president at Stribling & Associates.

Harden, who won an Oscar for her role as Lee Krasner in the 2000 film “Pollock,” put the home on the market in March, shortly after she and her husband, Thaddaeus Scheel, announced they were getting a divorce. Harden and Scheel, who also works in Hollywood, bought the home for about $1.1 million in 2002, public records show. The couple has three children.

Harden has appeared in films such as “Whip It” and television shows such as “Damages” and “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.” In 2009, she won a Tony award for her Broadway performance in “God of Carnage.”

Harden listed the 5,000-square-foot, four-story home May 13, and it went into contract two weeks later for the asking price, according to Streeteasy.com. The sale closed on May 16.

The 18-foot-wide townhouse was built in 1899 and renovated to include a finished basement, a kitchenette on both the third and fourth floors, a private garden and two terraces, the listing says.

“This is one of the best and most spacious homes in the neighborhood,” the listing boasts. “Because there are no buildings in front of the house, the southern light streams in throughout the day, making this a uniquely sunny brownstone.”

The buyers are Monica and Jonathan Lindsell, who works as the global head of strategic accounts at Salesforce.com, a cloud computing company. They were not immediately reachable on Friday.

Taub did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
