Pink Elephant set to make NYC return

The Pink Elephant Nightclub Will Officially Open Its New West 8th Street space this week, Eater reported. Located on the corner of MacDougal Street in Greenwich Village, the opening will mark the club’s return to New York City after a two-year hiatus.

The club still operated locations in Brazil and Mexico and took some time to make a comeback in Manhattan due to high rents and lack of suitable spaces [note: correction appended]. Though few details about the terms of the lease were available, the new club will have three rooms including a bar and a cabaret room, which allows for a more multi-functional space for events and earlier hours. The club is now located in a smaller space — the former Club Love — which allows for an occupancy of only 200 people at a time.

The club’s move comes at a time when the 8th Street Block Association is hoping to turn the changing surroundings into a new restaurant row. In the coming years, Pink Elephant plans to open in Dubai, Hong Kong and Rio de Janeiro. [Eater]
