Ex Bond broker tiger victim pleads not guilty, claims jump was “a spiritual thing”: VIDEO

The former Bond broker who leaped into a tiger’s den in the Bronx Zoo and was mauled by a 400-pound Siberian tiger, today pleaded not guilty to trespassing charges, NBC News reported.

In September, David Villalobos, once a Bond real estate agent, hurled himself from the Bronx Zoo monorail and into a tiger habitat, where he narrowly avoided death. Villalobos emerged with multiple bite wounds from a tiger named Bachuta, a broken right shoulder, right rib, right ankle and pelvis and a collapsed lung.

When asked why he jumped Villalobos, speaking at his arraignment in the Bronx, said, “Everyone makes choices and we have our reasons in life why we do things.”

He also told an investigator, “I was testing my natural fear, you would not understand. It is a spiritual thing, I wanted to be at one with the tiger.”

But Villalobos was only alone with the tiger for about 10 minutes before dragged out by zoo workers, who chased the tiger away with a fire extinguisher. [NBC News] —Christopher Cameron
