Sales at the Brodsky Organization’s 135 East 79th Street were launched in October 2012 — and in short order, buyers snapped up most of the building’s units based only on floor plans. In April, a 5,188-square-foot penthouse sold for $21.9 million. At press time, three other penthouses remained available and a maisonette, listed for $13.25 million, was in contract. As of July, there was also a 4,803-square-foot condo townhouse available, asking $18.5 million; that’s some $6 million more than the owner paid for it only weeks earlier. The William Sofield-designed building, which rose where the Hunter School of Social Work once stood, features a doorman, a concierge, a gym and a garden. Interiors have herringbone-pattern wood floors, and custom millwork kitchens and closets. Contact www.135east79.com or 212-505-7900.
